Final Digipak

This is my final digipak. There is a theme running through it, the outer areas are darker, and the inner areas are brighter. This matches the theme of the music video where there is a imaginary sequence.

The front cover has Ritik's face on it and minimal background (I used photoshop to turn the background black and white so it wouldn't draw as much attention). This is also according to Dyer's theory of a star persona. The idea is that the album is selling Ritik, the artist, as much as it is selling his music. Hence, the title of the album being slightly smaller than his name.

The back cover is a direct link to the music video and one of its locations - the museum. I've also colour graded it to make it appear very slightly pink. The photo is posed so that there is a relatively clear area to the left of the statue. The addition of the tracks to the left leaves the back cover more symmetrical and more pleasing to the eye.

The extra outer flap (bottom, first on the left) is a picture of the Rosetta Stone, which is another direct link to the museum and the music video. I have darkened it to make the writing more legible. The writing is a thank you note from the artist, again using Dyer's theory of a star persona to hopefully create a personal relationship from the artist to the audience.

The first inside (top, first from the right) is a picture of the plaque describing a statue of cupid. Once again, a link to the museum where we filmed. It also is related to the theme of love present in the song, and in the music video. The first hint of the pink appears here as a solid background, blank to pull focus to the plaque.

It is also important to note that the design of my digipak allows a small booklet to be placed between the front cover and the "inside left". This would hypothetically be to allow for all the things that my audience wanted (from my audience digipak research). The booklet would involve a photoshoot, (more pictures of Ritik) and lyrics.

The "Inside Centre" (top, middle) is another picture of the artist. This is based on Dyer, but also on my audience digipak research who said they wanted pictures of the artist. The clouds also symbolise the "dream world" that is shown in the music video.

The "Inside Right" is where the CD will be placed. This is the only picture that involves Zeel, the love interest from the music video. It has been blurred and colour graded to make it pink. This was done intentionally. I wanted to include a direct picture of the couple to show the happy outcome that the album has been leading up to but I also didn't want it to be very obvious. This is because the target audience would typically want to imagine themselves in this happy outcome and probably wouldn't enjoy seeing another girl with the artist. So, I decided to make it blurry and behind the CD.
