Production Log

Week 1
We had to create a re-make of Meghan Trainors song All About That Bass, everyone had to take part in the preliminary task to get us ready for a advanced portfolio by getting used to taking multiple shots with a camera and editing.
When the filming was complete we had to edit the music video individually.

Week 2
For this week we were put into groups, my group included Me, Nasima, Shivani and Nikita. During this week we also had to come up with a production name and logo, everyone in the group has to come up with a logo whilst we all worked together to make a production name which we decided on North West Records. For the logo we all decided on my logo because the group thought it was the most simple and best design. We also had to come up with initial ideas for the music video, we all had to come up with two songs we can do a music video for, I chose Baby Blue by Acton Bronson and Don't by Ed Sheeran.

Week 3
By the end of week 2 and the beginning of this week we chose the song to create a music video for, we all decided on Nikita's idea of Leon Bridges - Better Man because the idea she had for the music video was much better than the rest of ours so we went with it. We then created a timeline for the music video.

As a group we came up with three locations to film our music video, we then did some location scouting to find the most appropriate and convenient location to film, after we did that we came up with a risk assessment. We also created a shot list for our music video which had multiple changes made to it because other shots suit it better.

When it came to pre-production we all had to choose a role, I was the camera man and editor.

Week 4
This week and for the next few weeks we have to do a lot of our pre-production tasks such as casting which Shivani did, audience research, music video analysis. We created a storyboard to make the planning easier. After my group did some research on our target audience we came to the conclusion that the audience enjoys a mixture of narrative and performance based music videos.

I made a production schedule for our group to follow so we could complete the music video on time.

Week 5
We did a test shoot this week to see if the location was suitable to film at and we came across no problems at all.

Week 6
This week I did some research into the genre and the artist, I also did comparisons of music videos of the same genre.

Week 7
This week we started filming.

Week 8
When we opened the footage on the computer at school we discovered that the footage was not focused and others shots were too shaky so we decided to film again.

Week 9
This week we finished filming our music video so we decided to spilt up into two groups which were Nikita and Shivani and Nasima and I. We put together a rough cut at the end of the week with all the shots following the order of the storyboard.

Week 10
We got feedback from the other group members and from the feedback we decided not to use some shots and replace them because they didn't suit the music video, the audience also gave the same feedback as our group members, the said that it didn't suit the music video.

Week 11
This week we started editing the transition cut from the rough cut, in addition to adding transitions to it we also removed and added shots to it so it can suit the music video. Because we wanted to create meanings that the audience can understand we discovered many news things on the editing software Adobe Premier Pro such as adding a colour filter over the video.

Week 12
This week we completed the transition cut and posted to get feedback from our audience who said that it was much better than the rough cut, which was expected but they said it can be better.

Week 13
This week everyone was told to do research on your chosen type of ancillary task, I chose to do a digipak and website. For research I decided to research digipak from artist from the genre we chose.

Week 14
This week I did research on existing websites of musicians and then musicians from the same genre, I found out that the websites are pretty much the same through out most genres. We are stilling editing the final cut of the music video.

Week 15
After we finished editing final cut we posted it and got feedback I started to put together my digipak using photoshop.

Week 16
This week I also started working on my website using wix at the same time as my digipak.

Week 17
i finished the first draft of my digipak and got feedback from the target audience.

Week 18
I finished my second draft of my digipak and got feedback. I also completed a draft of my website to show to the target audience to get feedback.

Week 19
I finished finished my digipak and uploaded it on my blog and got feedback.

Week 20
I complete my final website and uploaded the link on the blog.
