Final Digipak

This is my final digipak. There is a theme running through it, the outer areas are darker, and the inner areas are brighter. This matches the theme of the music video where there is a imaginary sequence.

The front cover has Ritik's face on it and minimal background (I used photoshop to turn the background black and white so it wouldn't draw as much attention). This is also according to Dyer's theory of a star persona. The idea is that the album is selling Ritik, the artist, as much as it is selling his music. Hence, the title of the album being slightly smaller than his name.

The back cover is a direct link to the music video and one of its locations - the museum. I've also colour graded it to make it appear very slightly pink. The photo is posed so that there is a relatively clear area to the left of the statue. The addition of the tracks to the left leaves the back cover more symmetrical and more pleasing to the eye.

The extra outer flap (bottom, first on the left) is a picture of the Rosetta Stone, which is another direct link to the museum and the music video. I have darkened it to make the writing more legible. The writing is a thank you note from the artist, again using Dyer's theory of a star persona to hopefully create a personal relationship from the artist to the audience.

The first inside (top, first from the right) is a picture of the plaque describing a statue of cupid. Once again, a link to the museum where we filmed. It also is related to the theme of love present in the song, and in the music video. The first hint of the pink appears here as a solid background, blank to pull focus to the plaque.

It is also important to note that the design of my digipak allows a small booklet to be placed between the front cover and the "inside left". This would hypothetically be to allow for all the things that my audience wanted (from my audience digipak research). The booklet would involve a photoshoot, (more pictures of Ritik) and lyrics.

The "Inside Centre" (top, middle) is another picture of the artist. This is based on Dyer, but also on my audience digipak research who said they wanted pictures of the artist. The clouds also symbolise the "dream world" that is shown in the music video.

The "Inside Right" is where the CD will be placed. This is the only picture that involves Zeel, the love interest from the music video. It has been blurred and colour graded to make it pink. This was done intentionally. I wanted to include a direct picture of the couple to show the happy outcome that the album has been leading up to but I also didn't want it to be very obvious. This is because the target audience would typically want to imagine themselves in this happy outcome and probably wouldn't enjoy seeing another girl with the artist. So, I decided to make it blurry and behind the CD.

Final Website

you can see the website here:

https://nikideepak7.wixsite.com/ritik

The changes are as follows:

  • The background colour across the website is now a grey, a change from the black that it was before. This way, it still looks masculine as expected from the artist persona and also matches the colour scheme started by the album cover but is brighter and perhaps more accessible than a pitch dark background.
  • A logo, his name, that is consistent across the website and serves as a home button. This was to constantly advertise the artist.
  • The title has changed, from his name to the album title. I thought this would be more fitting, as his name is already visible on the website and this way, the album is also being advertised.
  • Stars, that brighten up the homepage but also imply that the album is award-winning. (There are more accolades in the about page.)
  • Although not visible, there are now small transitions for some of the features on the website. For instance, the photo on the homepage slides in.

Using Photoshop to Recreate a Poster

My Jessy J poster remake                              Jessie J original poster

On the right is the original poster and on the left is my recreation by using PhotoShop. The both poster do look similar, however there are some differences between them such as my recreation version  which is has expanded the width and made it look more realistic. my logos "on the left" are different to the original version of the poster. Also, the font is different from the original poster as it wasn't available in  PhotoShop when i was recreating the poster. Although, this task helped me to gain skills and basic knowledge on how to use photoshop, and how i will be able to use PhotoShop to recreate my own ancillary products.
